Our Mission
BlastocystisDB is dedicated to advancing global knowledge and collaboration on Blastocystis, one of the most prevalent yet underexplored microorganisms in the human and animal gut. Our mission is to provide a comprehensive, accessible, and sustainable database that:

• Integrates genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, and microbiome data on Blastocystis across hosts and environments.

• Supports the scientific community by offering reliable tools, protocols, and curated resources for accurate identification, subtype classification, and comparative analyses.

• Fosters collaboration across disciplines—spanning microbiology, parasitology, genomics, ecology, and clinical sciences—under the One Health framework.

• Promotes transparency, open science, and capacity building, ensuring researchers worldwide, including those in low- and middle-income countries, can contribute to and benefit from the resource.

By building this central hub, BlastocystisDB aims to accelerate discoveries, harmonize methodologies, and unlock the role of Blastocystis in health, disease, and microbiome dynamics.
